Welcome to Critical Education Policy Studies @ Swarthmore College

First, we post content related to education policy that we come across and find important to share through the site and our social media platforms.

Second, we operate an online journal titled #CritEdPol, Journal of Critical Education Policy Studies at Swarthmore College (ISSN 2473-912X), which is an open access, online, peer-reviewed  journal for undergraduates, education policy advocates, and researchers (graduate, Ph.D., independent), organized and published through Swarthmore College. #CritEdPol engages in a critical education policy approach where policy formation and implementation is understood as the product of socio-historical conditions and competing ideologies in relation to social systems, institutions, groups and individuals. This framework allows us to view education policy as a tool for traditional policymakers and community advocates to solve problems and effect change. Our journal provides a space for critical and creative analyses, discussion, data sharing and advocacy concerning education policies and related issues as they impact various communities and educational practice. In keeping with our community focus, we believe that submissions to our Journal can take a variety of forms, ranging from scholarly papers to multimedia projects, provided that they inspire a continued conversation among stakeholders. The journal is published in association with bepress and the Swarthmore College libraries (Pennsylvania, USA).

Third, the website serve as a hub of information for policy studies projects organized and conducted by members of CritEdPol working group.

Welcome to #CritEdPol, an online journal and working group housed at Swarthmore College.

This site is intended to serve as a clearinghouse of information, scholarship and action concerning Education Policy.

This site is collaboratively managed and edited by Professor Edwin Mayorga of the Educational Studies Department at Swarthmore College, Dr. Chanelle Wilson at Bryn Mawr College, and our undergraduate students. We are currently focused on three activities through the website.
