bell hooks (2003) maintained that the classroom should be “a place that is life-sustaining and mind-expanding, a place of liberating mutuality where teacher and student together work in partnership” (p.xv). Inspired by bell hooks vision, the Pennsylvania Education Scholars (PAES) Collective, invites you to: Toward Liberating Mutuality: A PA Education Scholars Symposium.

The symposium will be held online via zoom on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 10a-1p EST.

Goals:

  • Build up the PA Education Scholars’ community
  • Familiarize ourselves with work already being done by members and local organizations
  • Facilitate discussion toward some action steps (research, policy, practice) the group could take to support your work.

Format:

  • A 3-hour long virtual brown bag gathering.
  • Brief Introduction/Overview
  • One hour breakout sessions into which people can choose
  • Each session includes presentations of current work, brainstorming of possible collaborations, an action plan for next steps.
